Why we build custom dedicated kiosk browsers?
Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other browsers are simply not designed to be used as dedicated kiosk browsers. Although you can enable full-screen or kiosk mode on some of these browsers, there are many backdoors that a user can access and that are very difficult and often impossible to control. The browsers used in Netkiosk applications are specially developed by us using either Chromium or Microsoft Webview2. Having a customizable, dedicated kiosk browser stops users from using any of the backdoors that are simply not blocked when you use a standard browser. If it were as easy as using a standard browser, Netkiosk and other custom kiosk software would simply not exist.

Some projects where custom Netkiosk solutions were, as well as some current customer applications.
- For the 2015 Spanish National Elections, we developed a custom security solution. This custom Netkiosk solution was successfully deployed during the December 2025 Spanish elections on 4,000 devices.
- For the 2018 Ontario Elections, we developed a custom security solution. This custom Netkiosk solution was successfully deployed during the elections on 25,000 devices. This custom solution was also used at the 2020 Saskatchewan elections.
- For a major Japanese bank we developed a custom solution entirely in Japanese that includes special features for use in their branches.
- For a regional NHS hospital in the UK, we developed a custom security solution.

How it all started.
Netkiosk was founded in 2011 in Ireland by Mr. Aime Snijders. (Aime is Dutch). While designing and building kiosk units through his business jtmkiosksystems, a customer asked Aime for a simple and cheap kiosk software solution, and after having looked at existing kiosk software, he decided to develop a brand-new solution. And Netkiosk was born.
But as we all know building any brand and especially a software brand takes a little time and devotion.
From the start, the aim was to make simple yet powerful and reliable kiosk software that could be used in any environment. Removing IT headaches and creating peace of mind is what Netkiosk is all about.
It can safely be said that after more than a decade, Netkiosk has become a household name within the kiosk software industry.
In 2025 I am still just as eager as in 2011 to make sure Netkiosk remains at the forefront of kiosk software innovation and to keep customers happy.
